SayPro & Diepsloot Arsenal – No Training Session Held on 4th June Due to Parents’ MeetingOn Tuesday, 4th June 2025, there was no regular training session for the SayPro & Diepsloot Arsenal youth teams. Instead, the day was dedicated to an important parents’ meeting, held in place of the usual football activities.
This meeting aimed to strengthen the collaboration between SayPro, the Diepsloot Arsenal Football Program, and the families of the young players. The focus was on sharing progress updates, discussing future plans, and addressing concerns raised by parents regarding their children’s participation and development within the program.

- Introduce new coaches and program structure

Attendance Summary
A total of 90 parents attended the session. The breakdown of attendees was as follows:
- Females: 60
- Males: 30
This strong turnout reflects the growing interest and involvement of the community, particularly among mothers and female guardians, in the development of their children’s talents and well-being.
Support and Engagement
The meeting was supported visually and logistically by SayPro, with team representatives providing presentations and printed materials. The engagement was interactive, with open-floor discussions allowing parents to voice their feedback, ask questions, and suggest improvements.

The decision to dedicate the day to a parents’ meeting was positively received. It underscored the commitment of both SayPro and Diepsloot Arsenal to holistic youth development—not only focusing on athletic skills but also on education, discipline, and strong family support structures.

SayPro & Diepsloot Arsenal Training Session Report

Total Participants: 70 (55 Boys, 15 Girls)

Organized by: SayPro in partnership with Diepsloot Arsenal Youth Development1. Session Objectives
The 3-hour training session was designed to:
- Improve fundamental football techniques and tactical understanding
- Encourage personal growth, leadership, and discipline through sports
- Foster gender inclusivity in football training environments
- Identify potential talent for future mentorship opportunities
- Strengthen community development through youth sport
2. Participants Profile
Group Number of Participants Boys 55 Girls 15 Total 70 Participants were youth from various schools and community hubs across Diepsloot, aged between 11 and 18 years.
3. Programme Outline
14:00 – 14:20 | Welcome, Registration & Warm-Up
- The session opened with a welcome briefing from Mr. Ngoako Ramolesana, emphasizing discipline, focus, and teamwork.
- Registration was followed by group warm-up routines, including agility drills and stretching led by senior players.
14:20 – 15:00 | Skill Development Drills
- Ball Mastery: Close control, toe taps, and inside-outside dribbling
- Passing Techniques: Partner passing, triangle drills, one-touch passing
- First Touch & Control: Receiving the ball under pressure
- Mr. Ramolesana actively rotated among groups to offer individual feedback and technique correction.
15:00 – 15:45 | Tactical Awareness & Mini-Games
- Formation Basics: Introduction to 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 shapes for older participants
- Roles and Responsibilities: Position-specific guidance (e.g. wingers, centre backs)
- Mini-Games: 4v4 and 5v5 games focusing on spatial awareness, pressing, and off-the-ball movement
- Girls and boys were given equal playing time and roles during drills to promote inclusion and confidence-building.
15:45 – 16:30 | Full Match Simulation
- Two 20-minute matches (mixed-age teams) were held on half-sized pitches
- Coaching was paused during gameplay to allow players to make independent decisions
- Mr. Ramolesana facilitated live game analysis and gave post-match feedback to teams
16:30 – 17:00 | Cool Down, Reflections & Motivation Talk
- Static stretching and breathing exercises
- Group debrief facilitated by Mr. Ramolesana, focusing on the value of perseverance, sportsmanship, and discipline both on and off the field
- A few participants shared their experiences from the day, building confidence and public speaking skills
4. Observations and Highlights
- High Energy & Participation: All 70 youth remained fully engaged throughout the session.
- Female Participation: The 15 girls showed exceptional energy and some displayed standout skills, particularly in ball control and positional play.
- Peer Leadership: Several senior boys and girls stepped up as peer leaders during drills.
- Facilitator Impact: Mr. Ramolesana’s hands-on approach was praised by both youth and assistant coaches. His motivational style helped sustain focus and morale.
5. Challenges & Areas for Improvement
- Limited Training Equipment: More cones, bibs, and training balls are needed to run parallel drills efficiently.
- Footwear Issues: Several participants lacked proper soccer boots, which affected mobility and safety.
- Hydration Delays: More water breaks and shaded rest areas should be implemented in future sessions.
6. Recommendations
- Provide a small gear package (including bibs and basic boots) for under-resourced youth
- Recruit additional assistant coaches to support larger groups
- Formalize a scouting process to identify and mentor high-potential players
- Establish a weekly training program under SayPro and Diepsloot Arsenal partnership with consistent facilitation by Mr. Ramolesana
7. Conclusion
The SayPro and Diepsloot Arsenal training session held on 3 June 2025 was a success, both in terms of sporting development and youth engagement.
